| ACQUIRED PROGRAMMES PERFECT STRANGERS WED 18:30 A slapstick "buddy comedy" that explored the wonderment of a newly arrived immigrant at the ways of America- "The Land of the Whopper." Balki was a young sheperd from the Mediterranean island of Mypos, who showed up unexpectedly at the Chicago apartment of his distant cousin, Bachelor Larry. Balki's wide-eyed, fun-loving manner, his nutty myposian customs, and his tendency to take everything American's told him quite literally, promised considerable disruption to Larry's organized life, but Larry took him in. After all, getting started as a sheperd in Chicago was not going to be easy. Perfect Strangers is a 30 minute sitcom. Its debut onto television was on March 25, 1986 on ABC in USA. Perfect Strangers was created by Dale McRaven. The show was produced by Mark Fink and Paula A. Roth. Music for the show was done by Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay. The theme song to Perfect Strangers 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now' was performed by David Pomeranz. Plot: The general plot of 'Perfect
Strangers' is that a young sheep herder, Balki, who has lived all
his life on the isle of Mypos in the Mediterranean, has to move to America
to live with his cousin Larry. Larry, also leaves his large family to
join Balki in an apartment in Chicago. Each episode of the show Is filled
with humor and adventure as Balki gets used to America. Balki then builds
a career as an illustrator for the Chicago Chronicle. The two cousins
could not be more dissimilar! For, while Larry is panicky, hyperventilative,
business-like and mercenary- Balki is placid, unharried, sunny-natured-
and idealistic. Although having ups and downs in their personal lives,
both men eventually marry to long time girlfriends, Jennifer and Mary
Anne. In the final episode, both became fathers, while promising to stay
together as "friends forever."
